What is Geocaching? Geocaching is a real world outdoor treasure hunting game. You use phones or other devices with GPS to find hidden containers or caches.

Who can Geocache? Everyone! Some geocaches are more family friendly where as some are oriented towards experienced hikers. Many Geocaches are wheelchair friendly too!

When can you Geocache? All the time! Geocaching is a 24/7 game. Most caches are recommended for the day and you always need to be mindful of park hours.

Where can you Geocache? Everywhere! Or at least the 191 countries that have Geocaches. But you can Geocache on every continent even Antarctica.

Why should you Geocache? Geocaching is a fun reason to go outside and stretch your legs. Some Geocaches can teach you about a topic and some can test your brain. Whether it be hiking to a Geocache or just getting some fresh air while searching for a park and find, Geocaching can add an element of fun every to everyday life.

How do you start Geocaching? Starting Geocaching is easy! Start by downloading the app or going on the website. You will be required to make an account. After you have done that you can begin to discover caches around you. Once you find a cache click on it and read about it. The most common kind is traditional which is the best one to start with. Next look at the the trail rating, the higher the rating goes the more difficult the trail is ending with 5 which requires hiking experience. Next look at the difficulty level. This level will tell you how hard the cache is to find. The size of the cache is also listed and ranges from micro to large. The more you know the better so reading the description is important too. The description will tell you about the cache and where it is hidden, the trail, and details about the cache. Finally, look at the attributes. The attributes can tell you things about the cache from if it is family friendly, or if you may need a special tool to find the cache, to what local plants and wildlife to look out for. Once you have found the perfect cache you can go out and find it. Geocaching does not always have to be planned, you can always look at the app and see if there is a cache near you.
